Cli-Met is built on a transnational partnership that brings together higher education institutions, metropolitan authorities, and a European network of metropolitan regions and areas.
The partnership reflects the project’s central ambition: connecting academic knowledge, metropolitan practice, and European policy exchange to support the implementation of the climate agenda in metropolitan areas.
By combining expertise in urban and regional planning, metropolitan governance, climate adaptation, environmental policy, nature-based solutions, digital learning, and stakeholder engagement, Cli-Met creates a bridge between research, education, and the practical challenges faced by metropolitan territories.

University of Palermo
The University of Palermo coordinates Cli-Met through the Department of Architecture, bringing expertise in urban policy, spatial planning, landscape and environmental planning, territorial governance, and socio-territorial analysis.
Within Cli-Met, UNIPA ensures the overall coordination of the project, hosts the first International Intensive Programme, and leads the development of the project’s digital media and learning environment.
TU Dortmund University
TU Dortmund University contributes to Cli-Met through its Department of Spatial Planning, one of the largest planning schools in Europe. Its expertise covers spatial planning, European planning cultures, metropolitan governance, land-use policy, climate resilience, and urban transformation.
Within Cli-Met, TU Dortmund contributes to the scientific and educational development of the project, supports the preparation of international case studies, co-edits the project Handbook, and hosts the second International Intensive Programme.

The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid brings to Cli-Met a strong technical and interdisciplinary profile in architecture, engineering, sustainability, urban policy, and digital education.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi) brings to Cli-Met the perspective of a large metropolitan authority actively engaged in climate neutrality, clean energy, environmental sustainability, and climate adaptation.
Within Cli-Met, Izmir contributes practical knowledge from ongoing climate and clean energy initiatives and hosts one of the project’s Workshops with Stakeholders.
Metropolitan City of Milan
The Metropolitan City of Milan (Città Metropolitana di Milano) contributes consolidated experience in sustainable development, climate adaptation, decision-support systems, environmental spatial data, and nature-based solutions.
Within Cli-Met, Milan contributes to the project’s practice-oriented activities and hosts one of the Workshops with Stakeholders, supporting knowledge exchange on metropolitan climate strategies, spatial data, adaptation planning, sustainable water management, and nature-based solutions.

The Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas (METREX)
METREX connects Cli-Met to a broad European community of metropolitan regions and areas. As a network dedicated to metropolitan cooperation, policy exchange, and territorial innovation, METREX strengthens the European dimension of the project.
Within Cli-Met, METREX supports dissemination, participates in the International Intensive Programmes and stakeholder workshops, and contributes to the selection and preparation of metropolitan case studies.
