On 16 April 2026, the Cli-Met partnership held its second General Meeting online, bringing together representatives from the participating universities, metropolitan authorities and METREX to coordinate the next stages of project implementation.
A central part of the discussion focused on the two main international activities planned for 2026: the first Workshop with Stakeholders in İzmir and the first International Intensive Programme in Palermo.
Partners reviewed the emerging structure of the İzmir workshop, discussed their participation and contributions, and coordinated the involvement of representatives from across the consortium. Preparations for the Palermo Intensive Programme were also discussed, including its provisional structure and the participation of lecturers, students and trainees from partner organisations.
Developing the Cli-Met case studies
The meeting also advanced work on the project’s planned European metropolitan case studies, which will examine practices relevant to climate action and metropolitan governance across different territorial contexts.
Partners discussed a first set of potential cases with the aim of achieving a broad geographical and thematic balance. The selected experiences will contribute to the project’s knowledge base and will later feed into the Cli-Met Handbook.
Strengthening project governance
Partners also reviewed the project’s internal governance arrangements and the completion of the committees supporting the implementation of Cli-Met.
The meeting provided an opportunity to align priorities for the months ahead and coordinate contributions across the partnership as the project moved towards its first major international activities.
